About this work

Emperor Constantine the Great lies in bed. Saint Nicholas of Myra appears to him in a dream. The saint orders him to release the three military officers who have been unjustly sentenced to death. In the background, they are seen in prison. In the sky, angels, cherubim and an angel with a flaming sword. In the margin, a four-line inscription with a dedication in Latin.
