About this work

Ornament for plate border. Upper half: Jacob and Esau sit on the ground in front of a house. Esau eats the plate of lentil soup and sells his birthright with it. Lower half: the birth of Esau and Jacob. Rebekah lies in the lying-in bed. On the right the midwives with the swaddled babies. In the foreground a cradle. With Latin text in cartouches.
