Cameo "Gemma Augustea"

Two scenes are depicted on the Gemma Augustea. In the upper scene, a Roman ruler (possibly Emperor Augustus) with a laurel wreath above his head is surrounded by various gods, such as Neptune and Jupiter in the form of an eagle. The woman with the helmet is Roma, the personification of the city of Rome. To the left is Victoria with her chariot. In the lower scene, two figures are tied to a wooden stake on the left. On the right, a man and a woman are being dragged by their hair.
