About this work
The ten wise and foolish virgins wait for the bridegroom. The five wise virgins, spinning and doing needlework, keep their oil lamps burning in the lower left. In the lower right, four foolish virgins dance to the music of a bagpipe played by the fifth foolish virgin. They let their oil lamps go out. In the upper left, Christ as bridegroom opens the door for the five wise virgins. In the upper right, the foolish virgins knock in vain at the door.
