About this work

Mercury, riding on the clouds in his triumphal chariot, drawn by two crows. In the top left corner the constellation Gemini, on the right Virgo. At the bottom a coastal landscape with the harbors (including Antwerp). Trade is conducted in the cities. In the foreground merchants with goods being loaded onto ships. On the right a quack doctor and a theatrical performance. In the margin a Latin panegyric on the influence of the planet Mercury on the coastal regions of Europe. The print is part of a seven-part series on the influence of the planets on the world.
