About this work

A frame with putti on the left and right showing four cartouches. Top left, the three kings with King Herod; bottom left, the Flight into Egypt. Top right, the Massacre of the Innocents in Bethlehem; bottom right, the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist. In the center above, the star of Bethlehem and the three gifts of the three kings: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. At the bottom, two putti filling six stone jars with water: a reference to the first miracle of Christ at the wedding at Cana.
