About this work

Christ sits at the table with his disciples. He blesses and breaks the bread, causing his disciples to recognize him. On the right, a woman offers a glass of wine, and under the table lies a dog. On the left, in the doorway, the Emmaus travelers are on their way. Below the image, the title in Latin, four four-line verses in Dutch, and a reference to the biblical text in Luke 24:31.
