About this work

Oath of allegiance sworn by the cities and inhabitants of the principality of Orange to Prince Willem III, 7 May 1665. Ceremony with the prince's delegates and those of Orange seated on a stage set up before the Roman theatre at Orange; before the podium a large crowd of spectators. Above the theatre wall: the miraculous phenomenon of a crown of sunlight. Below the plate: printed on the sheet the legend a–r and two verses on the inauguration and the phenomenon.
