About this work

Satirical print on the departure of the Duke of Brunswick from the Netherlands, 14 October 1784. The duke, brought on a wheelbarrow to the boundary stone, is struck by lightning from Justice from heaven and kicked out of the country; on the right Prince William V is supported by his alleged mistress Countess Constance van Lynden and Prof. Petrus Hofstede and brought out of his fainting with English smelling salts. On the sheet below the print an explanation of the image in two columns in verse form.
