About this work
Allegory on the citizen corps promoting freedom in the Netherlands. A volunteer corps, together with the Dutch Lion, drives away Selfishness, Ambition, Cunning and Hypocrisy at a monument with the coats of arms of the seven provinces. On the left, soldiers erect a statue of Liberty. On the left in the sky, sunrays dispel the dark clouds on the right. At the bottom, two thirteen-line verses in Dutch. Dedicated to all Freedom and Patriot Societies of Arms Trade in the United Netherlands.
