About this work

Obverse and reverse of a medal with the portraits of the brothers Johan and Cornelis de Witt, and an allegorical representation of the death of the brothers Johan and Cornelis de Witt, murdered on 20 August 1672, in which the brothers are attacked by a beast with many heads, symbol of the people who mutilated the bodies. At the bottom the poems titled: On the Heroic Images / On the Beastly Fury.
