About this work

Allegory with a masked Woman World in a jester's costume. On her head sits a jester with scales in which worldly goods weigh heavier than a crucifix and a law book. To the left, a soul is led to heaven; to the right, devils fall into hell. Numbered top right: 29. With a verse of eight lines in French below the image. Part of a large group of prints relating to the events of the Brabantian Revolution and the period 1787-1790.
