About this work
Satirical print on the French after the conclusion of the peace between the Republic and England, 1674. A fleeing rooster (France) is pecked in the comb by an eagle (Germany). To the right, a Spaniard skewers a rooster on his sword to roast, with a Dutchman also putting a rooster into the cooking pot. Bottom left a cartouche with a verse of 6 lines in Dutch.
