About this work
Reproduction of a satirical print on the French after the peace between the Republic and England, 1674. A fleeing rooster (France) is pecked in the rear by an eagle (Germany). On the right, a Spaniard skewers a rooster on his sword to roast, with a Dutchman also putting a rooster into a cooking pot. Bottom left, a cartouche with a verse of 6 lines in Dutch.
