About this work

The relief of Bergen op Zoom by the States army under Prince Maurice on 3 October 1622, ending the failed siege by the Spanish army under Spinola and Velasco, 18 July – 3 October 1622. The prince on horseback with a retinue of officers is welcomed by a delegation of townspeople. A text sheet with four columns of text and a panegyric with musical staves for the prince is pasted below the image.
