About this work

Allegory on the political situation in the year 1636. Frederick Henry and the Dutch Lion are fearfully locked up in the Dutch Garden. On the left Ferdinand tramples a snake, causing the towns of Schenckenschans, Limburg and Dalen to jump out of its belly. On the right Cardinal Richelieu offers the stadtholder an order of chivalry. The print is a response to FMH 1751. The print comes with a text sheet.
