About this work

Executions in Maastricht of the nine persons who conspired to betray Maastricht to the Spaniards, 1638. On a scaffold Claude de la Court is quartered and his wife Angenes van Bovry beheaded on 30 April 1638. In the corners portraits of the four Roman Catholic clergy involved in the plot who were beheaded in July. At the top the nine conspirators take an oath on the Bible. Below the print is a printed text of 3 columns with a legend of the condemned A-I. Print without address.
