About this work

Second battle between the fleet of the WIC under Willem Cornelisz. Loos and the Portuguese fleet under Count de la Torre at Cabo Blanco (Branco), off the coast of Salvador (Bahia), 13 January 1640. A winged scroll in the sky bearing the title and two smoke horns. The legend explains the letters A-E and the numbers 1-7 in Latin. Plate [no. 43] in a series of 55 depictions of the journey to and the stay in Brazil of Count Johan Maurits of Nassau in the years 1636-1644.
