About this work

Fourth battle between the fleet of the WIC under Willem Cornelisz. Loos and the Portuguese fleet near the Rio Grande, off the coast near Salvador (Bahia), 17 January 1640. In the sky a winged scroll with the title and the coats of arms of the opposing parties in the naval battle. In the caption the explanation of the letters A-B and the numbers 1-6 in Latin. Plate no. 45 in a series of 55 depictions of the journey to and stay in Brazil of Count Johan Maurits of Nassau in the years 1636-1644.
