The naval battle off Dunkirk off the English coast between the States' fleet under Maarten Tromp and the Spanish fleet under the command of Antonio de Oquendo, 21 October 1639. In the foreground, Spanish drowning men in the water; in the background, the English coast. In the sky, Fame with the coat of arms of the United Provinces. Bottom left, an inset with the battle orders of the fleets before the battle. Two sheets pasted together. At the bottom left, a text sheet is pasted with a description and legends A-Z and a-y in French. A part of the image is missing on the left side; this has been drawn in with a pen. Incomplete copy without the Dutch texts.
