About this work

Allegory of Unity Achieved at the First Great Assembly of the States-General, held in the Ridderzaal from 18 to 21 January 1651. The assembly was convened after the death of Prince William II on 6 November 1650. On a hilltop (the Lusthof in The Hague), Liberty and Prosperity are led by Unity to the seven provincial maidens. To the left, Discord and State Ambition flee. Below the plate, a 36-line verse is printed on the sheet.
