Peace of Breda, 1667

The swearing-in of the Peace of Breda by the English and Dutch delegates on 31 July 1667, which brought an end to the Second Anglo-Dutch War. Central representation of the swearing-in of the peace treaty, with the personification of Peace in a cloud with two trumpeting angels above the assembled figures. Surrounding this are nine small representations of the naval battles fought during this war, the proclamation of the peace at Breda on 24 August, and the bonfires in Amsterdam on 7 September 1667.
