About this work

The incurable disease, 1673. French caricature on the conquest of cities in the Republic by the French army in 1672. A ragged Dutchman sits on a ship's hull and vomits a stream with the names of the lost cities. Warlords and women look on. At the top, legend 1-10 in 12 lines in French. At the bottom, legend 1-11 in 24 lines in Dutch.
