About this work

The Peace of Utrecht, concluded on 11 April and ratified on 12 May 1713, between the allies and the French, bringing an end to the War of the Spanish Succession. Large sheet with a view of Utrecht at the top and centrally an allegory of Peace. Surrounded by eight smaller scenes of the peace negotiations and the fireworks set off in The Hague on 14 June 1713 to celebrate the peace. Part of the bound series of 49 plates of famous strong cities and fortresses in the War of the Spanish Succession, ca. 1701-1713. With titles in Dutch and French.
