About this work
On a scale in the hand of God, the book of Jansenius, the Bible, and the Dutch lion are weighed against a Jesuit with a missal and the symbols of the pope. Although a friar hangs on the scale, it tips toward the side of Jansenism. Here stands Petrus Codde as Archbishop of Utrecht. To the right, above the seven hills of Rome, struck by the seven arrows of the Republic. Eighth sheet in the series of 10 sheets with satirical prints on the Jesuits titled Roma Pertubata, 1706.
