Allegory on the elevation of William IV, 1747

Allegory on the elevation of William IV to stadtholder of the Republic, May 1747. The Orange tree held by the Dutch and the English Lion (with royal crown). The spout has now grown into a tree (William IV). On both sides, bushes with English roses. A print of an old plate made on the occasion of the marriage of Prince William II and Maria Stuart in 1641 pasted onto a sheet with a poem on the elevation of William IV. Hand-signed by Marshoorn and with an inscription referring to the Haarlem rederijkerskamer 'Trouw moet Blijken' in 1747.
