About this work

The fourth sleigh in the procession. A sleigh carrying the personification of Liberty, with William of Orange and a knight, drawn by a horse and followed by noblemen on horseback. Part of a series of twelve plates (before the number and on different paper) of the sleigh ride on 24 January 1776 organized by the Leiden society Veniam Pro Laude on the occasion of the Second Centenary of the Liberation of Leiden (3 October 1574) and the founding of the University of Leiden (8 February 1575).
