About this work

Allegorical monument for Rear-Admiral Willem Crul, killed in English attack on his ship on 4 February 1781. Sculptural group with the fallen Crul in armor resting on a cannon on a chest with a depiction of the naval battle. Two allegorical figures carry the coat of arms with a Latin inscription. At the bottom a four-line verse.
