About this work

Patriot allegory on the attempts of Stadtholder Willem V to restore his power, 1787. The Dutch Maiden and Lion standing on the corner stone of the State Building which Discord tries in vain to topple. Liberty protects the State Building against Willem V and Slavery. Concord sends lightning bolts from heaven down on Discord, Willem V and Slavery. With inscription in two columns. The print is accompanied by a separate explanation.
