About this work

Design drawing for the print with the Patriot allegory on the attempts of Stadtholder Willem V to restore his power, 1787. The Dutch Maiden and Lion standing on the corner stone of the State Building which Discord tries in vain to topple. Liberty protects the State Building against Willem V and Slavery. Concord sends lightning bolts from heaven down on Discord, Willem V and Slavery. On the sheet, the separate explanation in Dutch and French is pasted below the drawing.
