About this work

Appearance of ghosts on the Oudeschans in Amsterdam, on the evening of 8 and 9 October 1833. Along the quay, ghostly white silhouettes of women in long robes move about. In the foreground and on the bridge, the assembled spectators. The 'ghosts' were produced by some students using magic lantern slides.
