About this work

Entry of King William II through the newly completed, flag-decorated Willem's Gate in Amsterdam on 27 November 1840 for his inauguration. The king on horseback rides with his retinue through the gate into the city, preceded by an honor guard and other riders. Spectators along the side. Windmills decorated with flags on the left and right. On the left in the background, at the end of the procession, the carriage of the queen. See also the pendant.
