About this work

Christ heals a possessed man in the region of the Gerasenes. The unclean spirits leave the man through his mouth and enter a herd of pigs, which run into the sea and drown. Christ's disciples look on. In the background the continuation of the story is depicted: the swineherds flee and tell the town what has happened. The inhabitants then come to Christ and ask him to leave their region. On the left in the background Christ departs in a boat, leaving the healed man behind on the jetty. Below the image a reference in Latin to the biblical text in Mark 5.
