About this work

Mercury carries a winged hat and caduceus, a staff entwined by two snakes. Above the medallion two smaller medaillons with rings and representations of the zodiac signs Gemini and Virgo. Below the representation of Venus a half-medallion with a rooster. Design for a stained-glass window for the Chamber of Commerce in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Sheet 10 recto from a sketchbook with 45 sheets.
