About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) and a furket (musket fork) in his left hand (no. 14), ca. 1600. With his right hand he is loosening the burning match lying on the cock (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket. Design for plate 22 in the instructions for handling the musket in the Wapenhandelinghe by J. de Gheyn (1607). Military affairs around 1600. Design for a print.
