About this work
A soldier, full-length, carrying a spear (lance) horizontally at shoulder height with both hands, his right hand at the foot of the weapon. This is the third action for lowering the spear to pass under an overhang. Design for plate 14 in the instructions for handling the spear in the Wapenhandelinghe by J. de Gheyn (1607). Military affairs around 1600. Design for a print.
