Churning of the Ocean

On a lotus flower at the top of the cosmic mountain Mandara stands a four-armed figure of Vishnu holding the attributes in his hands: a sword, a discus (cakra), a conch and a lotus. Mandara serves as a churning stick, supported by Vishnu in the form of a water tortoise. The serpent Vasuki serves as the rope, pulled back and forth by the gods and demons. Through the churning, various magical creatures appeared from the primordial ocean, including the elephant Airavata and the horse Uchchaihsravas. Surrounding the scene is a narrow orange and a narrow gold border.
