About this work

Gilded and marbled picture frame with a renversé profile. The broad flat central strip steps down on the outside to a lower rounded outer edge and is bounded on the face side by a compound rising profile. Starting with a ridge and followed by an ogee, a bead forms the highest part of this profile, which is closed on the face side by a lower flat step. The flat back is painted with marble imitations.
