S63-06440 (15-16 May 1963) --- View of the Tibetan Plateau in north-central Tibet, as photographed from the Mercury-Atlas 9 (MA-9) capsule by astronaut L. Gordon Cooper Jr., during his 22-orbit MA-9 spaceflight. The center of the photograph is near 91 degrees east longitude and 34 degrees 30 minutes north latitude. This view includes lakes and snow-covered highlands.
