About this work

Jacquard woven ribbon with abstract floral design of stylized red and blue flowers outlined in yellow with large curving polychrome vine on black ground; vine design composed of black trunk with rows of leaves outlined in white on exterior and interior design of repeating flowers in red, green and white; decorative yellow and white scalloped border with stylized flowers. Fabricated in St. Etienne, France between 1850-1900. From the Merci Train or Gratitude Train from France.
