About this work

Octagonal soup plate of porcelain, painted in enamel colours on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, yellow, black and gold. On the flat a seated woman with two attendants. On the wall a band with chain pattern interrupted by the coat of arms of the Powell family, a lion against a golden and white background with as inescutcheon the coat of arms of the Cleland family, a hare against a blue background. The coat of arms is surrounded by leafy vines; the crest on the rim on the opposite side. On the rim two cartouches with a landscape in encre de Chine. Some chips in the rim. Coat of arms porcelain in enamel colours.
