About this work
Cup and saucer of porcelain, painted on the glaze in blue, red, pink, purple, black and gold. On the base the coat of arms of the family Lovelace divided into two parts separated by a crenellated border. 1. three birds against a black background; 2. a half moon on a red background. The crest is an eagle surrounded by acanthus leaves; the coat of arms is flanked by two classically dressed persons. Under the coat of arms a scroll with the inscription 'PRAEMIUM VIRTUTIS HONOR'. On the inner rim a spearhead border. Underside with an old label with 'Lovelace'. The cup with the same decoration. Coat-of-arms porcelain with enamels.
