About this work
Porcelain pattipan, rectangular and hexagonal, with lobed wall, painted overglaze in blue, red, black and gold. On the flat flower branches (peony, aster, orchid, etc.) in a medallion, on either side of the medallion a cartouche with a flower branch, around the medallion a swastika pattern; the inner rim with napery alternating with flower vines in a cartouche. Underside unglazed. European forms with encre de Chine.
