About this work

Bowl of porcelain with flat, spreading rim, painted in underglaze blue. On the wall women (long-legged) and two dancing boys (clowns) and a rocky part with plants; on the bottom two dancing boys in a landscape; the rim with lacework alternating with four lobed cartouches filled with precious objects (pearl, diamond) and symbols of good fortune (wheel, parasol); the outer rim with precious objects (books, pearl, music stone) and symbols of good fortune (wheel, parasol, shell). Marked on the underside with the six-character mark of Emperor Chenghua in a double circle. Blue-and-white.
