Egg-shaped lidded jar of porcelain with a ribbed wall, painted in underglaze blue. On the wall a broad, ribbed band with therein four medallions with scenes: two women (long eyebrows) on a terrace at a table playing 'go'; two women, one with a flowerpot, and a boy (fool) in an interior; a woman and a dancing boy in an interior; two women on a terrace, one dancing, the other watching sitting next to a table on which a book lies. On the shoulder a band with flower branches (prunus, peony). Around the foot a band with flowering plants. On the lid a scene with two women on a terrace at a table with a book. On the rim flower branches (lotus). Marked on the underside with the six-character mark of Emperor Chenghua in a double circle. Glue residue on the underside. Blue and white.
