Triple-gourd vase with flower sprays and insects

Bottle-shaped vase (knobbed bottle) of porcelain, with a three-part body and spreading neck, painted overglaze in blue, red, green, yellow, aubergine, black, and gold. The lower part of the body with three flowering branches (peony, chrysanthemum) and a band with a ruyi motif; the middle part with lotus vines in reserve against a red ground; the upper knob with three fruit-shaped cartouches with an insect by a plant; on the neck, two bamboo branches; around the foot, a 'crackled ice' pattern in green. A crack in the rim. Old label on the underside with 'Nightingale coll: 32.'. Famille verte.
