About this work

Egg-shaped lidded jar of porcelain with a ribbed body and flat lid, painted in underglaze blue. In the ribbed body four medallions are cut out, containing a woman (long eyebrows) in a garden with trees and rocks; around the foot and shoulder a band with flowering branches. Marked on the underside with the six-character mark of Emperor Chenghua in a double circle. Some cracks in the bottom. Blue and white.
