About this work
Vase (wheel-thrown) of porcelain with a cylindrical body, flat shoulder and short, straight neck with a spreading rim, painted in underglaze blue. On the body four bands with decorations alternating on a white and blue ground: the lowest band with scrolling work and lotus tendrils in reserve, the next band with flower tendrils, above that a band with dragons in reserve; the uppermost band with flower tendrils and a lobed cartouche filled with blue and lotus tendrils in reserve; a decorative band around the foot and shoulder; vertical flower petals on the neck; a double circle on the underside. A crack in the rim. Blue and white.
