About this work
Porcelain ewer with a globular body, C-shaped handle, and a narrow neck with a ring-shaped thickening, painted in underglaze blue. On the belly an incised medallion containing a painted floral rosette. On either side of the medallion, a lion in relief. Below the handle, a flowering branch. The shoulder features a band with loose flowers. The neck has a ring-shaped thickening. The handle is decorated with a vine; a hole in the upper part for a mount. The form and decoration of the ewer are based on a model of German stoneware from Westerwald (see no. BK-NM-10081). Blue and white.
