About this work
Arcas, the son of Jupiter and Callisto, aims his arrow at a bear, not knowing that it is his mother. She had changed her shape fifteen years earlier. In the background on the right, it can be seen how Jupiter places mother and son in the sky as constellations before Arcas can shoot. Below the image, two times two lines of verse in Latin. The print is part of an album.
